- Collaborative research between GKN Aerospace and academia focused on Set-Based Design Optimization receives Journal of Mechanical Design Editors’ Choice Award

GKN Aerospace, Chalmers University and McGill University have been awarded the prestigious Journal of Mechanical Design Editors' Choice Award for their collaborative research on Set-Based Design Optimization.
The team's paper, "Scalable Set-Based Design Optimization and Remanufacturing for Meeting Changing Requirements", was chosen as one of two winners of the annual award. The research is part of the European-Canadian project AMOS and set out to combine life cycle analysis and design optimization methodologies to enable more resilient product life cycle solutions. This has increased understanding of the repair and re-manufacturing potential offered by additive manufacturing.
GKN Aerospace was responsible for setting up the industrial context and describing a relevant use case, while McGill University developed the set-based design methodology to achieve scalable, optimal solutions. McGill University and Chalmers University of Technology jointly supported for the research work.
